NCATE Teacher Knowledge and Skill Standards for Gifted and Talented Education
The Council for Exceptional Children – The Association for the Gifted (CEC-TAG) and the National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC) collaborated to develop revised, research-based standards for teacher preparation in gifted education.  The Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP), the professional organization that accredits schools and colleges of teacher education, adopted the revised gifted education standards in the fall of 2013. The new standards bring coherence to teacher education programs nationwide as well as help ensure educational quality across school districts and education institutions.

Pre-K-Grade 12 Gifted Education Programming Standards
CEC-TAG and NAGC have jointly endorsed 2019 Pre-K-Grade 12 Gifted Education Programming Standards. These standards were developed by an NAGC committee chaired by the 2021-2022 president of CEC-TAG, Dr. Debbie Dailey. The Association for the Gifted (TAG) and its Board of Directors reviewed these standards in 2019, and expressed their support.
